Thought assignments are a way to get your brain to think and argue with itself. I post them every week for your benefit. And like all thinking, they can be done at any time.
This week, think about what it means to be part of a "collective" or "community". Think about where our sense of community ends and begins here in America. Redefine what community means to you and what it means politically and socially in our world. Then try to answer these questions:
1. Is there a "higher" or common collective in our world (in the sense of a "greater good) or is there nothing beyond what we feel and do individually and independently?
2. In a "community" or "collective" how do individuals weigh toward the group as a whole?
3. Last, What is it that drives the very ideal of a higher society or "greater good"?
When you think I URGE you not to keep your ideas to yourself! Spread them around, dilute yourself a little bit, argue, and have fun with it. An idea that is never spoken might as well have never existed at all.
For those of you who wish to share your ideas with the community, please comment below.
